WTO Economic Counsellor visits Gengenbach

The development of world trade and the topic of trade finance occupied Master’s students at the Faculty B+W during the summer semester. Dr. Marc Auboin, Economic Counsellor of the World Trade Organization WTO, gave a guest lecture on this subject at the University of Applied Sciences Offenburg.

The students also had the opportunity to discuss the advantages and disadvantages of the planned transatlantic free trade agreement TTIP.

One focus of the event was the opportunities and challenges of global trade: Because the volume of trade has grown faster than the gross domestic product in recent years, the share of global trade in global GDP has increased significantly. One of the topics discussed in this context was that this development not only has a positive impact on export-strong economies such as Germany but has also led to a significant increase in prosperity in emerging and developing countries.
