Economic crime: How does the pandemic affect the insurance sector?

PwC Germany discussed if and how the Covid-19 pandemic affects the occurrence of economic crime in the insurance sector. The discussion focused on the following questions: What are the most common crimes, who are the offenders and what are their motives? PwC also discussed possibilities how insurance companies can protect themselves against the new wave of economic crime.

PwC Germany released a new study on the topic. The authors are Tatewik Kunzmann, Senior Manager at PwC Germany, and Gunter Lescher, Partner at PwC Germany. They were supported by Offenburg University, using empirical data from research at the Institute for Trade in Innovation at Offenburg University.
