The program was launched by Dean Professor Philipp Eudelle at a conference in the UK, where professors from Offenburg and Newcastle presented their research priorities. “This collaboration offers great opportunities for the university”, says Eudelle. “Graduates of our degree programs have a very good opportunity to pursue an academic career at home and abroad with a Ph.D. from Northumbria University.” For applied economics research, structured doctoral programs such as the Doctor of Business Administration could now also be offered.
In future, PhD students will be jointly supervised by professors from Newcastle and Offenburg. “In doing so, we are not only strengthening our own research priorities, but also taking up new impulses from our British colleagues”, emphasises Professor Andreas Klasen, Deputy Scientific Director of the International Center at Offenburg University of Applied Sciences. It is also possible to draw on the infrastructure of both institutions and, for example, use both libraries. The first doctoral candidate from Offenburg will start in autumn of this year, by which time a detailed cooperation agreement will be in place.
The Newcastle Business School is one of the most prestigious business schools in the UK. It is one of the few business schools in the world with dual AACSB accreditation and has also accredited more than 18 EPAS degree programmes. She also recently received the coveted Times Higher Education (THE) Award “Business School of the Year.”
