The Institute for Trade and Innovation (IfTI) has presented the results of its research for the Verband Deutscher Maschinen- und Anlagenbau (VDMA) at the Federal Government's Interministerial Committee in Berlin. With high-ranking government representatives from the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection and members of the German parliament the responsible persons discussed how Germany and selected other economies utilise publicly supported export credits for transactions in the region.

The study analyses policy and strategy approaches, evaluates financial and human resources as well as products of public export finance institutions for transactions in sub-Saharan Africa. It also analyses relevant aspects of export-oriented support from development banks. The report focusses on medium- and long-term export financing in the machinery and equipment sector. It looks at how governments are closing market gaps and creating a level playing field for exporters to do business successfully in sub-Saharan Africa.
