Mr. Juri Suehrer

Mr. Juri Suehrer is a part-time doctoral researcher at the Institute for Trade and Innovation (IfTI) at Offenburg University and a Senior Strategy Specialist at the Government of Dubai. In his role he is leading the FDI Open Data Program at the Dubai Investment Development Agency (Dubai FDI) and coordinating strategy work at the Hamdan Center for the Future of Investment, a global initiative by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of The Executive Council. Besides, Mr. Juri Suehrer is responsible for the annual reporting of FDI investment data and inflows as well as investment portfolio analysis for the Emirate of Dubai. As a part-time DBA student in the Offenburg/Northumbria programme, Mr. Suehrer is researching how Foreign Direct Investments (FDI) can contribute to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by the United Nations. Through developing a holistic framework, Mr. Suehrer is creating a new approach for investors to utilize the annual funding gap occurring from the SDGs, as outlined by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD). Mr. Suehrer has more than eight years of professional experience and is a former management and strategy consultant, advising international clients in the United Arab Emirates, Saudi-Arabia, Germany and the United Kingdom. Mr. Suehrer holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Business from the Cooperative State University (DHBW) in Germany and a Master’s degree in International Finance from the University of Wales.

Mr. Michael Stopfkuchen

Mr. Michael Stopfkuchen is a full-time doctoral researcher and research associate with the Institute for Trade and Innovation (IfTI) at Offenburg University. He conducts research for numerous internal and external research projects. As a full-time PhD student in the Offenburg/Northumbria programme, Mr. Stopfkuchen is researching how governmental institutions can support SMEs in their internationalisation by creating a strategic econsystem. Looking at heterogeneous characteristics and specific support demand of various SMEs, his research focuses on the development of a modular and cutting-edge governmental support framework reaching a large number of firms. Previously, Mr. Stopfkuchen has gained professional experience in a German solar company and for PricewaterhouseCoopers in China. Mr. Stopfkuchen holds a Bachelor’s double degree in Business Administration from the Cooperative State University (DHBW) in Germany and the Open University in the United Kingdom, as well as a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Offenburg University.
